Musicians & Orchestra
The Monroe Symphony Orchestra welcomes qualified musicians from across northeast Louisiana and beyond.
Drawing players from a roughly forty-mile radius of Monroe and West Monroe, the orchestra brings together ULM faculty, regional professionals, advanced students, and dedicated community musicians.
The orchestra holds auditions to fill openings across the string, wind, brass, and percussion sections as the season requires. Musicians of all backgrounds are encouraged to inquire — what we ask for is preparation, reliability, and a love of ensemble playing.
Email the orchestra’s personnel manager at msopersmgr@gmail.com with your instrument, experience, and a brief background. Let us know which section interests you.
The orchestra’s personnel manager will follow up to arrange an audition time, either in person or by recorded submission as the section requires.
Prepare the requested excerpts and a short solo work that demonstrates your playing.
Perform for the music director and section principal. You will be notified of the result and, where there is a fit, invited to join the roster.
Regional professionals and University of Louisiana Monroe faculty form the core of the ensemble.
College and exceptional pre-college players are welcome to audition for available chairs.
Skilled community players who can commit to the rehearsal and concert schedule are encouraged to inquire.
Young musicians not yet ready for the mainstage orchestra are encouraged to explore the Monroe Symphony Youth Orchestra.
Reach out with your instrument and background, and the orchestra will be in touch about the next available audition.
